Hsinchu & Sydney - “Achieving the economic breakthrough needed to make hydrogen competitive with fossil fuels”.
Taiwanese hydrogen systems supplier Tellus Materials has ordered a combined Purification, Compression, and Storage (PCS) system from SolidHydrogen Pty Ltd. Powered by proprietary metal hydride technology, this single unit performs all three crucial functions simultaneously. While these processes traditionally represent up to two-thirds of the total cost of hydrogen, SolidHydrogen’s technology reduces these costs by up to 10x—achieving the economic breakthrough needed to make hydrogen competitive with fossil fuels.
The system will initially power a hydrogen generator to validate its performance at scale. This deployment serves as a commercial blueprint for larger industrial scale-ups, proving the viability of cost-effective PCS solutions for deep-decarbonisation applications—including eSAF, green steel, ammonia synthesis and cracking, natural hydrogen, and legacy industrial hydrogen processing.
Philippe Odouard, the CEO of SolidHydrogen Pty Ltd said: ""The hydrogen transition is moving past speculation and into the reality of hard economics. Whether scaling new green hydrogen or optimising existing industrial streams, success comes down to project viability. Our technology slashes the cost of storage and purification to make hydrogen assets competitive today. It is the missing link for a viable global hydrogen economy."
Dr. Harris Liao, the CEO of Tellus Material, also said: "This is only the first phase of our cooperation. We are working on much larger projects in the Asia Pacific that could use the SolidHydrogen technology and can now be deployed competitively."
About SolidHydrogen www.solidhydrogen.tech
Based in Sydney, Australia, SolidHydrogen develops, industrialises, and manufactures integrated hydrogen purification, compression, and storage systems. Utilising a proprietary, low-cost metallic alloy, our technology eliminates the primary cost bottlenecks of the hydrogen economy through five key pillars:
Ultra-Dense Storage: Stores three times more hydrogen by volume than high-pressure gaseous storage (700 bar).
One-Step Purification: Guarantees 99.999% hydrogen purity in a single, low-cost process.
Chemical Compression: Utilises low-temperature waste heat to compress hydrogen chemically, bypassing the high costs and maintenance of mechanical compressors
Circular & Durable: Operates at ambient temperature, lasts for 10,000 cycles, and is 100% recyclable.
Sovereign & Secure Supply Chain: Made entirely from globally abundant raw materials with zero rare earths or critical metals, eliminating geopolitical supply risks.
