EN2CORE Technology and SolidHydrogen Partner to Reduce the Cost of Low-Carbon Hydrogen
Sydney and Daejeon, 29 September 2025 – EN2CORE Technology (EN2CORE) of South Korea and SolidHydrogen Pty Ltd (SH2) of Sydney are pleased to announce the signing of a groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) aimed at reducing the cost of low-carbon hydrogen.
EN2CORE is developing advanced plasma-based reforming and pyrolysis technologies that transform biogas and landfill gases into syngas for sustainable fuels, and convert natural gas into low-carbon hydrogen and high-value carbon black for specialty markets.
SH2 is developing metal hydride-based solutions to store, purify, and compress hydrogen at a fraction of the cost of existing technologies. Most hydrogen produced globally requires one or more of these three processes before it can be deployed in industrial operations. SH2’s metal hydrides absorb large volumes of hydrogen in compact form, offering the lowest cost per kilogram per cycle on the market. The system is non-explosive, long-lasting, and fully recyclable.
The objectives of such a MOU are to demonstrate through a pilot at scale that the combination of both technologies can produce usable hydrogen competitive with fossil fuels
While some media reports highlight the challenges faced by large hydrogen projects, raising doubts about hydrogen’s role as a key green replacement for fossil fuels, the reality is that the hydrogen market continues to grow year after year, with many applications already commercially viable. This cooperation seeks to make projects that are not yet viable with existing technologies competitive, unlocking profitable applications and funding opportunities—particularly in hard-to-abate industries such as petrochemicals, ammonia, green steel, and sustainable aviation fuels (SAF and e-SAF), while also enabling the production of low-carbon products at scale, such as turquoise hydrogen and advanced materials like specialty carbon blacks.
